Got Adapters?
We’ve all been there. You reach into your radio go-bag and the adapter you need is not there. It can ruin a summit activation, Field Day or even be the difference between being able to call for help during an emergency.
Standardization
As a prepper, I make it a point to standardize my equipment. For amateur radio, I primarily use coax cables and antennas that are terminated with BNC male connectors. Therefore, all of my HT’s (SMA) and base stations (SO-239) adapt to BNC female.
Adapter Kits
For each radio (HT or mobile base station), I maintain a small Altoids tin with the following adapters. In general, I am able to adapt the radio to work with BNC, SMA and SO-239/PL-259.
